Mar. 30, 2026 - Semi-Truck Fire on Interstate 41 Contained: No Injuries Reported
On Monday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 7:10 a.m., the Grand Chute Fire Department (GCFD) was dispatched to northbound Interstate 41, south of Highway 15, for a single-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck that had caught fire. Outagamie County Communications Center also informed responders that the driver had exited the truck safely.
Upon arrival, the first unit reported a semi-truck on the shoulder of the interstate with the tractor fully involved with fire. Flames were also extending into the trailer, presenting a risk for further fire spread. Due to the amount of fire and the possible need for extra water supply, additional resources were requested through mutual aid.
GCFD personnel used multiple handlines to bring the fire under control quickly. Conditions improved, and the incident was stabilized rapidly so the additional units were canceled prior to arrival.
Northbound Interstate 41 remained closed for several hours to allow for fire suppression, overhaul operations, and roadway cleanup. Traffic was diverted around the incident using Wisconsin Avenue.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The fire started when the semi-truck blew a tire and crashed into the construction barrier.
The Grand Chute Fire Department was assisted by the Grand Chute Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Outagamie County Communications Center.
