Oct. 31, 2025 - Explosion at Local Recycling Business: No Injuries Reported
At approximately 10:13 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th, the Grand Chute Fire Department and Grand Chute Police Department were called to the 3300 block of West Highview Drive in the Town of Grand Chute for a report of an explosion. There were reports of debris landing in nearby yards.
Upon arrival, the area of the explosion was located at a local recycling business. An investigation found that employees were using heavy machinery to cut old gas cylinders. A larger compressed natural gas cylinder—still pressurized—was accidentally cut. This caused an explosion. Debris from the cylinder was found as far as 100 yards away. The machinery involved had minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Fire personnel remained on scene for about 45 minutes to make sure the area was safe and to help with the investigation.
The Grand Chute Fire Department reminds everyone to use extreme care when handling or cutting any type of pressurized container.
No further information is available at this time.
