All single-family, duplex, and three- & four-unit households participating in the Town of Grand Chute’s mandatory automated collection program will be provided one refuse cart (green lid) and one recycling cart (blue lid) per dwelling unit.

A yearly fee for these services is charged to the property tax bills. The carts are supplied, maintained, and owned by the Town of Grand Chute. This fee is not prorated for new construction or property sales.

If a resident requests an additional or different cart size, a $100.00 fee must be paid before delivery. If a cart is lost, stolen, damaged by fire and/or by negligence, a $100.00 replacement fee is required.

Carts must be used for weekly refuse and bi-weekly recycling collection. Automated collection trucks use mechanical arms to grasp, lift, and empty the carts.

Collection Guidelines Include:
  • Carts must be placed at the roadside by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day or after 6:00 p.m. on the evening before collection.
  • Carts must be removed from the roadside within 24 hours after the 6:00 a.m. collection time.
  • Carts must be set on a flat, level surface within six (6) feet of the edge of the curb or at the end of the driveway apron.
  • A minimum clearance of five (5) feet must be maintained between the cart and any obstruction such as mailboxes, trees, utility poles, snow piles, and the other carts. If carts are blocked or not accessible due to improper placement, the contents will not be collected.
  • The wheels and handles of the cart must face toward the residence (away from the roadway).
  • Carts must be placed at ground level and not on snowbanks or elevated surfaces.
  • All solid waste and/or recyclables must fit entirely inside the designated cart with the lid fully closed. Materials placed outside of the cart or prepared improperly will not be collected.
  • The following materials are prohibited from disposal in the refuse and recycling carts: hot ashes, yard waste, bulky waste, hazardous waste, construction and demolition debris, electronics, lead-acid batteries, tires, and oil.
  • Grand Chute uses a single-stream recycling system, which allows paper, cardboard, glass, tin, aluminum, and plastic to be placed together in the recycling cart.
