The Public Works Department is a vital component of our municipality, ensuring that our community runs smoothly and efficiently. This department encompasses several key divisions, each playing a crucial role in maintaining and improving the quality of life community:
- The Streets division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of our roadways, sidewalks, bridges, public rights-of-way, and street signing. The division also manages the Stormwater drainage system, which includes storm sewers, retention ponds, and other infrastructure. Stormwater management is crucial for preventing flooding and protecting water quality.
- The Utilities division ensures the reliable delivery of essential
services including water and wastewater. They oversee the operation
and maintenance of water and sewer mains, pumping stations, water towers, wells, sewer systems, and related infrastructure. Their work is
fundamental to public health and the sustainability of our community’s resources. - The Parks and Recreation division manages and maintains our trail system and public green spaces, including parks, playgrounds, and recreational areas. They handle everything from the maintenance of park shelters and restrooms, street tree maintenance, and trail maintenance to the maintenance of playground equipment. This division also coordinates recreation events including summer programs, special events, fitness classes, and pickleball lessons. Their work enhances community well-being by providing accessible, well-maintained spaces for leisure and recreation.
- The Fleet Maintenance division supports other Public Works divisions by providing maintenance and repair services for the equipment and vehicles used in daily operations. This includes everything from routine servicing, major repairs, and fleet replacement to ensure that the Town’s fleet remains in optimal working condition.

These projects may include roadways, utilities, Stormwater, facilities, structures, and parks. The division oversees construction and ensures that projects comply with specifications, safety standards, and regulations.
