 The Town of Grand Chute has been a Tree City USA Award recipient since 2005. The National Arbor Day Foundation awards communities who demonstrate outstanding effort to improve urban forestry. The Town is also a recipient of a Tree City USA Growth Award for demonstrating progress in its community forestry program, recognizing environmental improvement and higher levels of tree care.
As a Tree City USA, Grand Chute must meet the criteria of four standards: A forestry department - A tree care ordinance
- A comprehensive community forestry program
- An Arbor Day observance
The Town’s Annual Arbor Day celebration is one way in which it qualifies for the Tree City USA Award. Hosted the last Friday of April each year, elementary school students from Houdini and Badger assist in the tree planting process to celebrate Arbor Day.
