Emerald Ash Borer
The emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis), also known by the acronym EAB, is a green buprestid or jewel beetle native to north-eastern Asia that feeds on ash species. Females lay eggs in bark crevices on ash trees, and larvae feed underneath the bark of ash trees to emerge as adults in one to two years.
 
The Town of Grand Chute has been treating our specimen ash trees and removing and replacing the remaining ash trees that are in our right-of-way. Below are some pictures showing the progress of infected ash trees. If you have an ash tree on your property that has some of the below symptoms you are encouraged to either treat your trees or remove them before they become a hazard. If the Town identifies trees that become hazards on private property, the property owner will be notified and asked to remove them at the property owner's expense.
