Who should I contact about a concern that I have about the fire department?WhatWhat should I do to prevent falls in the home? When should I call 911?You should call 911 any time you feel you have an emergency. If you have concerns that are not emergent in nature, contact the Town of Grand Chute Fire Department at (920) 832-6050 during business hours. WhereWhere is my neighborhood fire station? The Town of Grand Chute has two fire stations. Station One is at 2250 W Grand Chute Blvd. Station Two is at 3900 W Spencer St.
Where do I get a burn permit? Our various burn permit applications are available here. You can also stop in Station One during normal business hours to complete an application for a burn permit.
Where can I get a car seat installed? The Grand Chute Fire Department partners with Safe Kids Fox Valley to provide child safety seat installations and checks on a monthly basis. Appointments are required. Call Outagamie County Public Health to schedule one at (920) 832-5100. WhyWhy does a fire truck respond when I only asked for an ambulance? The fire trucks are staffed by paramedics. The trucks are frequently able to arrive more quickly than ambulances and initiate critical care. Many Advanced Life Support procedures require two or more paramedics to perform. Patients may fall and become stuck in awkward locations. They may be in the upper level of a home and unable to walk down stairs. Some patients are very heavy and unable to walk. All of these situations require extra personnel to assist with safe patient movement.
Why are there fire trucks parked at the grocery store? The Grand Chute Fire Department crews work 48 hour shifts. They are either on calls or at the Fire Station for the entire shift and obviously need to eat sometime. Crews go to local grocery stores to buy meals for the day (crews pay for their own meals, not the Town). This allows them to make healthier meal choices than most take-out or delivery food. Even when they are at the store, crews are still on duty. They will immediately drop their shopping and respond when called.
Why do I sometimes see fire trucks from other departments in Grand Chute? The Grand Chute Fire Department, like most Fire Departments, has Mutual Aid Agreements. This means that Fire Departments in neighboring communities send trucks to help out when there is a major incident in the Town, such as a large fire, that requires more resources than the GCFD has available. In return, the Town sends trucks to help our neighbors when they have major incidents. HowHow does the fire department respond to calls?
